Breaking the chains of unbreakable force
Dissolving the past to chart a new course
Stopping an insanely pumping machine
For those with insurance and the American dream
Shades pulled low on glorious days
Darkening skies with deepening haze
Marred by power I had let them dictate
Relinquishing mine to crawl through each day
Troubling years have painted my face
Scarring my heart and taking its place
Time kept dancing through torrential rains
Pausing only to spit on my charred remains
Returning my reflection the mirror relays
Doubting blue eyes still counting the days
Until the last fight forgives its slave
Freeing this soul from a living grave
Breaking the chains of unbreakable force
Dissolving the past to chart a new course
Unfolding a path of pure clear light
Stepping out from the shadows to pick up my life

Everyone has their tough times, and I’m relieved in a way that I get to write about mine. I think it helps. And – I think it’s given me much more empathy and compassion resulting in more observations about others, as well as being less judgmental. Thank you so much for commenting on my poetry. I love you too dear sis… xo

Your poetry is compelling and raw and makes me want to know more about what you have been through, other than what I already know…..I love you. .
