Poetry: when i’m able

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 1.07.27 PMAgain I’ve crawled inside my mind
Passing time and spinning rhymes
Staring at a darkened screen
Trying to beat my best game

While ticking hands count off each dream
I’m waiting in some place I’ve been
Until my mind decides to settle
On the same page as my body’s able

It’s just an hour, it’s just one day
A crumbling path leads me away
From nowhere I sit back and watch
As tumbling weeks turn into months

Then years fall stumbling into old age
And I reflect on precious days
To take a drink from my empty cup
Until the next hour wakes me up
