Many classic 60’s tunes aren’t that long, unfortunately. So take a short break of a mere 2 mins 47 secs and check out this cool 1966 music video… the singing AND the dancing...

To be honest, the first time I became acquainted with this little masterpiece of music was on David Bowie’s 1973 album PINUPS, featuring cover tunes of some ultra-cool ’60’s classics. I have to thank him for introducing me to these songs & artists as a teenager. I still love this version…

Sorry, couldn’t locate a video with David Bowie performing this song, but here’s at least an audio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7heEHFfjkU

Thanks for listening and enjoy your Monday. Keep Friday on your mind…

UPDATE:

Coincidentally, as I’m watching AC/DC on axs.tv this afternoon, I turned to the internet to refresh my memory on the year that I saw AC/DC in Winnipeg in July of 1980…
(Q: Bon Scott or Brian Johnson? A: Brian Johnson)
Sidebar Fact: Local band and one of my all-time favourites The Pumps opened for them for this show at the Wpg Convention Center.

ACDC-ThePumpsBackStagePassJuly1980So… the coincidence: it turns out that Angus & Malcolm Scott’s older brother George (producer of AC/DC) got his start in the Easybeats and co-wrote Friday On My Mind.

Happy Summer art and music lovers! I’m reposting some of my “Music on Mondays” series this summer. Lately I’ve been focusing on drawing and painting (see the ART menu) and less on music articles. STILL LOVE these songs, bands, and their history!

  2. Ohh I am happy You like it! Wish You good luck finding it.
I got the vinyl ages ago in England on a fleamarket and it is one of my most loved records. It looks like the one in the video. I also carried and played it everytime I was a DJ. It’s full of all kind of songs covered from punk bands. Especially love The Flying Lizards with an experimental nearly industrial version of Money and a great version of I heard it through the grapevine.
    have fun!

  3. Ahh Friday on my mind! I love this song! I prefer the original as it is faster.
I also like this cover I have on vinyl, found it here:

A bit more punk and dirty voice and sound. How do You like this?
But I think the original is the best! Interesting with AC/DC….
