One of my Cactus corners – the Cactus with the really sharp spikes & stickers are beyond a gate and out of the reach of inquiring dogs’ noses

Cactus Flowers: As a youngster, this Indian Fig (a type of Prickley Pear Cactus, or Opuntia) was in a small container in our backyard in Scottsdale, Arizona. It’s VERY happy in this northern California garden. Its ears and its fruit are edible.

This Aloe Spicata was purchased from the fabulous The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, California

With cooler temperatures and a bit more water, the Aloe Spicata is a bright green colour. I love the “terra cotta” hue it takes on when it’s dryer and hotter. It reminds me of a clay sculpture.

Thanks for your follow of my http://www.inknpetals.wordpress.com. That led me to your blog which has so many wonderful subjects and visuals I love – sketching, painting, poetry – just my cuppa tea. And I particularly like your blog layout and background colour. Your garden is spectacular. I have a jade plant and a couple of cacti but am in the process of planning an indoor cactus garden. Thanks again. I look forward to more visits here.
