Poetry: Sleepless Street {Insomnia #7}

Inside the house on sleepless street
Pain coils itself, a striking snake
That hisses dread as midnight sighs
And crawls behind half shut eyes
That fight to close but admit defeat
Faking their might they do not sleep
Yet succumb to fragmented faerie tales
Ignored by sight but the mind prevails
And stakes a claim for the endless beast
To force what’s caught back to its crate
As fear invades night’s precious time
And frozen dreams corrupt the mind
The hours fail, they cannot repeat
Then someone cries on sleepless street
