Once again I’m re-using an old partly finished watercolour painting, adding a skim coat of white Gesso, then using the underpainting’s lines to guide some loosely drawn shapes in pencil. From there I make it up as I go along, getting cues from each layer of colour & texture, and each shape & line.
Here are some work-in-progress pics:

Can I ask what artists you are inspired by? Your dynamic style here reminds me of Cézanne, Matisse, and Kandinsky.. just to name a few I can maybe see here…

Yes, all to all 3! Also Georges Braque, Grace Hartington and Lee Krasner (Jackson Pollock’s wife).. Thanks for your great comment. When I finish painting today I look forward to checking out your site. – deb

I’m definitely on a long-awaited journey getting back into painting after a long absence due to chronic back pain, surgery… I feel like I’m finally receiving some sort of gift for my suffering. TMI maybe… But just want you to know that your words of encouragement are gratefully accepted – deb

Keep on doing whatever it is you are doing! These are catching. And thanks for continue to share the “in progress”. You continue to inspire me to break free from my linear mindset and give it a try myself to see what happens when I “make it up as I go”.

That’s great! Go for it! When I’m undecided about my next move I tell myself “it’s only paper & paint”… And it helps me to snap pics along the way so I can step back and take a look from another perspective. Yep, sometimes I take a painting too far but I know I can keep it evolving if I choose. Thank you SO much for your great comment… Comments like yours inspire ME !
