Update: Lately my art has been over-taking my poetry. It’s a great sign… my creative self had all but disappeared for several years because of chronic back pain. I’ve been conquering that pain and in many ways I have gotten my life back. I started to regain my creativity when I completely stopped taking prescription pain medications (under medical supervision) in November of 2013. Apparently opiates can block the area of your brain responsible for creativity, planning, and organizing. Wow. I never would have believed it if it hadn’t happened to ME. It’s still a struggle, but I’m winning.
My interests lie in our creative worlds.
I thrive on beautiful design, sights, and sounds. I am inspired by anything or everything I see – and by other creatives.
I’m an artist, graphic designer, typographer + writer.
This blog started as a way to heal + grow beyond chronic pain and illness. I started to write poetry about it, and it felt good. So I wrote more. At one point I thought, what if I die? I want to be able to share my words, my art. At first it was very hard to post my work … I’d post a few poems to Facebook and would always end up deleting them. Too raw, too personal. But I am here now, and once I started this blog, I couldn’t stop sharing. Then I started to share some of my art. Then I started to create new art…
It’s a kind of therapy for sure –
I’m able to re-focus away from pain when I’m writing, drawing, painting or otherwise “creating a new energy”.
On those days when I can only sit, I have found so many treasures in the WordPress community to read and follow. Thank you fellow WordPressers!
